Sister, Sister

Finally, an easy one! :) I'm excited about today's topic because I don't have to get all emotional while writing it (did anyone catch the "don't have to" part-doesn't mean I'm not going to...). Haha.

First, a side-bar...Now, I have trouble admitting these type of things, so just bear with me. It was a difficult realization. I mean, I've thought long and hard about it, and what it means for my future...Ok, I can say this:

I, Meredith Davenport, am a Publix snob. (*hiding head in shame*)

It's true. I just love this place (not this one in particular b/c it's actually in California or somewhere). :) I mean, everything from the anti-bacterial wipes for the buggies, to the free cookies at the bakery, to the samples in the deli. It's all amazing! What do I love most? The fact that I feel like a celebrity when I go there (ok, I lied-I like the BOGO sales the most, but that wasn't as dramatic-sounding). Seriously, I keep waiting for the red carpet one day. I ask for a product, they say, "let me find that for you". I ask about a coupon, they say "let me clip that for you". Last night, I got a product that had a coupon on it for a different item. I didn't really have time to go searching for that item, so I just checked out. The cashier actually called somebody over to get it for me while he rang up the rest of my things. Seriously?! How cool is that? I mean, no offense to others out there, but you would never get that at an "un-named super store that never has ANYBODY working in the department when you need them". :D It's just really made me not want to shop anywhere else, ever!

Now, moving on...

Day 5: Your Siblings

Sisters are different flowers from the same garden.  ~Author Unknown
Boy was this quote written for me and Courtney or what? Actually this quote works too:

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.  ~Author unknown, attributed to a 4-year-old named Lauren

I don't know what to say about my spit-fire of a sister. She is just, awesome! It never fails, no matter the situation, that girl makes me laugh out loud. She's got the most amazing sense of humor ever! She is fun, outgoing and adventurous. I'm never suprised to see mud on her Jeep or holes in her jeans. She's not afraid of anything (except really high bridges), and she just loves life. :) She has such a loving, caring and warm heart. (Sorry if I'm ruining your tough girl image sis.) I'm going to start calling her Julia Childs here soon. I think she bakes something every day. Not that I'm complaining!!! One of the things I admire most about her, is her strong Christian spirit. She is just such a good person. She has such a tender heart, but she's strong, too. I love more than anything to see her with Levi. I always knew she'd be a wonderful aunt, but I think she was nervous in the beginning. She is so good with him and to him. I don't want to think about the trouble they're going to get into when he gets older...lol. I really can't imagine my life without Courtney. We don't get to hang out as much as we used to, but it doesn't matter. We always have a good time together, even if it's just sitting at home. Yes, we're different flowers, but we're similar in the ways that count. We love our family, and we love each other. I'm so blessed to call her Sis. :)

While I grew up with Courtney as a biological sister, I've also been blessed with 3 other sisters as well. Sherrie (my half-sister) and Jennifer and Julie (my sisters-in-law).

Sherrie is my dad's daughter from a previous marriage. When my dad was alive, it was easy to stay close. Unfortunately, in the years after his death, it got harder and harder to stay connected. Over the past 5 years or so, we've gotten back together as adults, and I have to say, I am so grateful to God for the way our relationship has grown. She is such an amazing woman, sister, wife and mother. She and her husband Mike have blessed me with a wonderful niece and awesome nephew. I am so glad she was able to be a part of my wedding, and now a part of Levi's life. I can't imagine her not being a part of my world.

I like to say that when I married Jeffrey, I gained two new sisters. :) Jennifer and Julie are Jeffrey's older sisters, and I am so thankful to have them in my life. They have truly become like sisters to me. Both of them are so supportive and loving. I know, that if I needed ANYTHING, at ANY time, I could call one of them and they'd come running. We all have so much fun together rather it be at dinner on Sunday night or at the cabin in Gatlinburg. Julie has 2 children, and her oldest and Levi just adore each other! I love that Levi is going to have close cousins to grow up with, and close aunts! Oh my goodness, you should see these 2 with him! They just love love love my little guy. It makes me so very happy! :) I just love these girls and am so grateful to call them "sisters".

Wow, 4 sisters! Whether they be biological or "inherited" :), I love these 4 women very much. The Lord has truly blessed me with some amazing sisters!

Ok, I'm still working on the "exit" line. How about:

"Peace, love and hair grease"

(Stole that from my boss...might not fit me...hmm...)

I feel more and more like we are ... I too admit to being a Publix snob. eeeeeeek. I only KINDA feel bad... but I still choose it. It is neat, not dirty. They dont sell me expired stuff. I love their fresh fruit & veggies. AND the sample station, duh!

I wish you could have been here when I first read this... It is like I double checked to make sure this wasnt my blog! I really do have that same feeling. Some days I imagine moving to an area where there is ONLY a Publix... then I dont have to defend myself!
